I watt to see this in Brazil! PLEASE RELEASE IN CINEMAS IN BRAZIL TOO. Just watched this on Amazon. So lovely to see Phryne and Jack again. Weve missed you both so much. This film is an adventure/romance/mystery of the type not seen since the Golden Age of Hollywood. Phryne Fisher is Indiana Jones with a much better wardrobe, a James Bond or Batman level superhero without the dark cynicism of either.
People used to go to the movies to forget their troubles, not be reminded of them. Like The Princess Bride, Crypt of Tears doesn't take itself too seriously, nor should you when watching it. This is something early critics of the film missed.
Phryne Fisher continues to be a female character who is unapologetically herself, something rarely found on screen, even now. Essie Davis is luminous as Phryne, a character she fully embodies and obviously has fun playing. Nathan Page has upped his game as DI Jack Robinson, bringing a subtle touch in revealing the emotions of the "still waters run deep" Inspector. Go see this film for their chemistry if nothing else, sizzling" hardly does it justice.
On top of that, the costumes, set design, and cinematography look far richer than an AUD 8 million budget would suggest. It should be seen on the big screen if you can. Enjoy.

As always, the Miss Fisher mood is fun and fanciful and doesn't take itself too seriously. There are stunning costumes and the ever present chemistry between Phryne and Jack. Could they have done a bit more of the storyline in Melbourne or used some of the TV series' regulars this movie is still a wonderful entertaining foray into the Miss Fisher world. Hoping there's another instalment.
